Event Details

Opening statements set the tone for a trial and influence the jury toward justice while closing arguments bring the trial together in a final persuasive plea to the jury. No pressure, right? Openings and closings can be tough to craft, even for the most seasoned prosecutors, but with this training focused solely on these trial skills, prosecutors will be armed with new ideas and better prepared for their next case. Join us for this NEW training and learn the best strategies to use when planning and preparing for your openings and closings.

Topics covered during this lecture-based training include:

  • Basics of Openings and Closings
  • Theme and Style
  • PowerPoint and Visual Aids
  • How to Build an Opening
  • How to Build a Closing

This course is approved for up to 5.5 CLE Credit hours. No other type of credit is available. Registration starts at 8:30am with the first topic beginning at 9:00am. The day will conclude at 4:00pm. The Opening and Closing Statements One-Day Training is the second of several one-days trainings on various trial skill topics needed for the courtroom. Other one-day trainings to look forward to in the coming months include Cross Examination, Direct Examination, and Total Trial Concepts.
