Fundamentals of Prosecution 2023

Hello new prosecutors! Welcome to the field and welcome to the Fundamentals of Prosecution Course. This course is specifically designed to prepare newly hired Assistant District Attorneys and Assistant Solicitors-General to make the transition from law student to a prosecutor. This course is the Continuing Legal Education component of the Transition Into Prosecution Program and meets all the requirements for newly admitted lawyers under Rule 8-104 of the State Bar of Georgia (Transition Into Law Practice Program). Students who attend the Fundamentals of Prosecution Course and participate in the mentoring component will acquire "the practical skills, judgment and professional values necessary to practice law in a highly competent manner" required of the public prosecutor. The registration deadline is Friday, October 27. There is no on-site registration.


Eligibility

Prosecutors admitted to practice in the State of Georgia on or after July 1, 2005, who are participating in the Transition Into Law Practice Program (TILLP), are required to attend Fundamentals of Prosecution as part of their mentoring plan.

The registration fee is $100.00. This fee covers both your registration fee and your CLE fees. There will be at least 10 total CLE hours offered for this training course including ethics and professionalism hours. No POST credits are available for this course. Please do not submit your payment until you pass the Ga Bar. If you have already passed the Ga Bar, a registration payment of $100 is due by Friday, November 3 at 5pm. If you paid for your registration and can no longer attend the conference, the refund cut-off date is Friday, November 3, 2023. Any refund requests after this date will have to be reviewed by the Director of Training, Kelli Baxter.

Reimbursement

Reimbursement of attendees is based on the availability of state funds for that purpose. For District Attorney personnel, reimbursements come out of the approved travel budget for the Judicial Circuit. Employees of Solicitors-General offices are eligible for up to $500 reimbursement per Fiscal year. Employees of other agencies are not eligible for reimbursement by PAC. PAC does not reimburse registration fees. Please review the reimbursement policy here.
