The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council are delighted to extend an invitation to you for our highly anticipated Domestic Violence Boot Camp Course. This comprehensive training program is designed to equip prosecutors, advocates, and law enforcement personnel with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively combat domestic violence within our communities.


Domestic Violence Boot Camp Course

Course Objectives

  1. In-depth Understanding of Domestic Violence: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and complexities of domestic violence, including the impact on victims and the community.
  2. Legal Framework and Prosecution Strategies: Explore the legal framework surrounding domestic violence cases, including relevant statutes, case law, and evidence-gathering techniques. Learn effective prosecution strategies to increase successful outcomes.
  3. Collaborative Approaches: Learn how to foster effective collaboration among prosecutors, advocates, and law enforcement agencies to enhance victim safety, evidence collection, and case management.


Potential Topics: Domestic Violence in Georgia, Trauma Informed Prosecution, Working with Victims of DV, Recanting/Reluctant Witnesses, Link Between DV and Animal Abuse, Domestic Violence Dynamics, and More!


The course is geared towards prosecution, but it is open to prosecutors, advocates, and law enforcement. It is approved for 10.5 CLE (10.5 General and 7 Trial), 10 POST, and 9 Advocate Credits.


Registration

Registration is open until Monday, August 28th at 5:00 PM. There is a $100 registration fee. PAC will provide light snacks, coffee, and water. Lunch is not provided. Due to limited seating, we are requiring that all registration payments be paid in full by August 28th at 5:00 PM. If your registration fee is not paid by this date, your registration will be canceled. No refunds or swaps are available after this date unless approved by Kelli Baxter. Lodging

You are responsible for your own lodging. The suggested lodging list is located under the Documents tab listed above. No meals are provided by PAC.


Reimbursement

Reimbursement of attendees is based on the availability of state funds for that purpose. For District Attorney personnel, reimbursements come out of the approved travel budget for the Judicial Circuit. Employees of Solicitors-General offices are eligible for up to $500 reimbursement per Fiscal year. Employees of other agencies are not eligible for reimbursement by PAC.
