2024 CAST Basic Historical Cell Site Analysis Course

April 23-24, 2024, in Forsyth, Georgia at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center

16-hours of POST credit will be available for law enforcement. No CLE or Advocate credit is available for this course.

The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia is pleased to partner with the FBI Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST) to provide the Basic Historical Cell Site Analysis Course. During this 16-hour course, you will be introduced to basic cellular analysis and geospatial mapping.

By the conclusion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles and concepts of a cellular network and how a cellular device connects with a cell tower
  • Interpret and analyze the call detail records obtained from the major cellular providers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon)
  • Utilize mapping software to accurately depict the general location of a cellular device at the time it interacted with the cellular network
  • And more!

Due to space restraints, we may only be able to accommodate one person per office.

If you are accepted, you will be required to download software (CASTviz) onto your laptop that will be used during this course. Information about this will be sent after you are accepted. Also, attendees will need to have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel functions such as Freeze, Sort, Find/Replace, Insert, Formulas, and Pivot Tables.

Reimbursement of attendees for the Basic Historical Cell Site Analysis course is based on availability of state funds for that purpose. For District Attorney personnel, reimbursements come out of the approved travel budget for the judicial circuit. Employees of Solicitor-General offices and/or other agencies are not eligible for reimbursement by PAC for this event.
